Your work is yours.
Ochre is designed as a local-first creative notebook. We collect as little as possible and do not sell your information, show advertising, or use your work to train AI models.
What stays on your device
Your notes, recordings, images, files, tags, projects, and version history are stored in an encrypted archive on your device. Ochre does not send this archive to us unless you choose to turn on cloud backup or export something yourself.
Optional account and backup
You can use Ochre without an account. If you create an account to use encrypted cloud backup, we process your email address, account identifier, and the encrypted backup file needed to provide that service. Your recovery phrase and the key to decrypt your archive are not uploaded. We cannot read the contents of an encrypted backup.
Services we use
Account and encrypted-backup infrastructure is provided by Supabase. Sign in with Apple and Google are available if you choose them. The website’s waitlist and support forms are processed by Formspree. Those providers may process the information you submit only to provide the requested service.
How we use information
We use account information to authenticate you, operate encrypted backup, respond to support requests, and protect the service. We do not sell or rent personal information, use third-party advertising, or track you across apps and websites.
Retention and deletion
We retain optional account information and encrypted backups while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and encrypted backup at any time on our account deletion page. Your device-local archive stays on your device; you can remove it by deleting the app and its data. Legal obligations may require limited retention of records where applicable.
Security
Ochre protects its local archive with encryption and supports device biometric unlock. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we design the service to minimize what leaves your device in the first place.
Children
Ochre is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. For questions about privacy, visit Support.
