- Yes. Ochre is local-first and encrypted. Your archive lives on your device in a file encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and it is encrypted before it ever leaves your device. Even the makers of the app cannot read your work.
- Does Ochre use my work to train AI models?
- No. Nothing you write or record in Ochre is used to train models. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to export or back up.

- Can I recover my work if I lose my device?
- Yes. You can create a zero-knowledge encrypted backup with your account. Only ciphertext is ever uploaded, so the backup service can never read it. On a new device, your recovery phrase is the key that restores your archive.
